#56 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace / 13 Grandmothers

Okay  I am still trying to get to my story together of learning tolerance  from the racism and prejudice I dealt with as a child growing up in America. Skeletons ... do I really want to rattle those bones?
Why not make them into a wind chime for Peace? In the meantime I have been thinking of the past a lot ? How it has made me what I am? What it Could have made me ?
This always brings me to my Grandmother. The one living Saint I was blessed in knowing in my lifetime . She was my Mother Teresa.
Never claiming to be a Saint just was, not perfect but striven to be so . She loved everyone and liked most . Not judging You for what You had ,wore or WAS.
I can only hope to be half the woman she was .

I am a Grandmother now of 5 blessings , this is something I am proud of and I also take this title serious and to the heart .
Knowing these children are facing a world Much harsher than what I grew up with , which was damned hard enough . This is why everyday I strive to figure out how I can help make this world a little better for the generations ahead of us.

Today I was talking to my Mother who lives in a big city and scared to go out at night in front of her own building. This is a government housing for elderly and handicap . Over 150 people in 1 building and they don't think they need security there !?
With 9/11 being tomorrow the TV has all this FEAR FACTOR going on... Something may happen? Someone may try something?
How much $$$ will our Government spend tomorrow alone for Extra security for New York City , while there are towns near there flooding ? How long will those flood victims have to wait for help?
I wonder how secure those folks feel about our government's priorities right now?
We were talking about all that has happened in the last generation or 2 . The US Wars against terrorism is making  Poverty and Violence in Our Own Country worse . Our country's priorities are screwed up. We need to take care of the wars and hunger in our own streets first!!
How can we be Peacekeepers in over 160 countries and not have  Peace in the USA ??

Then she said , "I am glad that your Grandmother is not alive to see this. It would make her so mad she'd have a heart attack all over again! "The first thing that came to my mind was " Oh how I wish she was here to give me some wisdom to go with the anger and confusion I am feeling right now ?!"
Well later I found some Grandmothers on a Page for Peace on Facebook! 13 Grandmothers out to change the world for the next 7 generations ! Wow , I have watched these 2 videos , laughed and cried and Praised the Holy Spirit for letting me find this blessing today. I am going to be checking into them more too.

If You have any knowledge about them or any Peace Loving People you would like me to blog about let me know?

Well I am off to have a walk in my garden because that is where I find my peace .

May Peace and Blessings be upon You all.

#58 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace /Tolerance NOT Racism 1

The Whole World Against Racism , what a dream . What a Goal .
What is the definition of racism? found at    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/racism
A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races  determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race  is superior and has the right to rule others.
Racism is the belief that there are inherent differences in people's traits and capacities that are entirely due to their race, however defined, and that, as a consequence, racial discrimination (i.e. different treatment of those people, both socially and legally) is  justified.
Racism is popularly associated with various activities that are illegal or commonly considered harmful, such as extremism, hatred, xenophobia, (malignant or forced) exploitation, separatism, racial supremacy, mass murder (for the purpose of genocide), genocide denial, vigilantism (hate crimes, terrorism), etc.
I don't want to be judged that way do You ?
If we really believe in the brotherhood of man, and want to come into its fold, we have got to let everyone else in too.
E.Gibson
I was glad to see when I typed in "anti racism" 1 660 000 links were there , over 3,000,000 in images !
These writings  was copied from the link below... Incidents are not uncommon around the United States. An influx of Muslim immigrants and 9/11 have led to an increase of hate crimes and harassment. In The Baltimore Sun, Basir Jamil, a high school senior, wrote about the prejudice he has faced growing up Muslim in America after 9/11.
He said, "From grade school on, I have personally encountered racism and extremism. I have endured snide comments, people calling me 'terrorist,' and people generally hating me for no reason but my race and religion."
This constant cycle has had a profound impact on Muslim students nationwide. Here are just a few of the incidents that have been reported:

  • In St. Cloud, Minn., a high school student created a short-lived Facebook group called “I hate the Somalians at Tech High.” The area is home to one of the largest groups of Somali refugees in the country, many of whom are Muslim.
  • In Oklahoma, a student was suspended after wearing a hijab, or headscarf, at school on September 11, although she had worn it for weeks before.
  • In Massachusetts, when a Cambridge store burned down, Muslim high school students were asked by classmates if they bombed the store.
  • In New York, four high school students were charged with a hate crime after spending more than a year bullying a Muslim classmate, occasionally beating him and calling him a terrorist.
For many Muslim students—particularly those who don’t speak English—teachers are their best defense, says Jandali. Educators need to set clear and consistent guidelines.
“Schools can change the situation by saying there’s a no-tolerance policy in our schools, that there are going to be consequences,’’ she says. “Our approach is that education is the best way to prevent bias and discrimination—try to prevent that bad thing from happening.”

I hope You all will read it ... Understanding More about Islam
Classifying "The Other"
The panelists expounded upon issues of the misleading depictions of Islam in American society by discussing problems of classification as the Other. To Asani, Islam is not the Other, or an antithesis to the West, because Islam is not about being separate at all. "The message of Islam is universal...and is meant for the entire world." In fact, the Arabic word Islam means "Peace" and "Submission to the Will of God," and the word Muslim means "submitter." "If you look at it this way," Asani continued, "a Christian or a Jew is Muslim as well; any who submit to the one God is already Muslim."
 I think I will make this a 2 part topic  .
So I will see you tomorrow .

#59 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace / activist gone war

With 9/11 anniversary around the corner.

We are reminded of how using war on war does not work . We must use Peace to get Peace !

looking  into history of activist news I found this heart breaking story that was recently posted at cbsnews.com

We have to learn from our mistakes .

So let's fight war with Peace !

A statement for peace, an act of war

May Peace and Blessings be upon You!

#60 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace/war money

A dear friend told me that she had been by my blog and thought it was nice ! "But did not think that Peace and Politics could be in the same place ?" My 1st thought is that is why I blog...
Because if we do not stand up to the Politicians and demand Peace we will keep having these damned wars!
I have been looking around to find the stats of the cost of the wars going on with American $$ . WHAT INSANE numbers ?
If we had Peace maybe America would not be depriving their own people decent care and jobs .

US Military Spending

I found this at the link above...
At a time when a deep economic recession is causing much turbulence in the civilian world … defense giants such as Boeing and EADS, or Finmeccanica and Northrop Grumman, are enjoying a reliable and growing revenue stream from countries eager to increase their military might.
Both geopolitical hostilities and domestic violence tend to flare up during downturns.

Shareholders and employees in the aerospace and defense industry are clearly the ones who benefit most from growing defense spending.
Defense companies, whose main task is to aid governments’ efforts to defend or acquire territory, routinely highlight their capacity to contribute to economic growth and to provide employment.
Indeed, some $2.4 trillion (£1.5tr), or 4.4%, of the global economy “is dependent on violence”, according to the Global Peace Index, referring to “industries that create or manage violence” — or the defense industry.

Military might delivers geopolitical supremacy, but peace delivers economic prosperity and stability.
And that, the report insists, is what is good for business.
The Most Dreaded Enemy of Liberty
by James Madison,James Madison was the fourth president of the United States. This is from Letters and Other Writings of James Madison.
Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. . . . [There is also an] inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and . . . degeneracy of manners and of morals. . . . No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. . .

#61 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace/ Civilizations

Civilizations
Are we really that different ?
Do we not all rejoice at the first cry of a newborn ?
Don't we all smile at a smile of a child ?
Do we not all mourn our dead ?
Do we not all want Peace for the next generation?

#62 /100 Reasons I Blog4Peace/ We Have to Unite

I found this in the Sanford Herald from a young man that gives me some hope for the next generation , I just hope he doesn't loose his !.

LETTER: To be No. 1, We Have to Unite
to the editor .
For years now, we have heard politicians at every level talk about compromising and civility. During one of the worst financial calamities in a long time, Washington seems isolated and carefree.

Some say blame Bush, some say blame the democrats, and some say blame Obama. I say we should stop pointing fingers and put their heads together.

Until we stop looking at one another as liberal or conservative or black and white, we will never succeed.

We are all Americans with opinions. Diversity is what makes us great.

I may only be 17 years old, but I understand that if we want to remain No. 1 in the world, we have to work together here.

Before we go and preach civility and compromise to the world, we should practice it here at home.

I am white and conservative, but I don’t see myself that way.

I am an American, and I love my country and all its people.

Instead of looking at someone and saying “It’s your fault,” you should say, “It’s our problem, let’s work together and fix it.”
